Christ Community Health Services Celebrates 30 Years of Serving Shelby County
September marks the 30th anniversary of Christ Community Health Services (CCHS) opening its doors and making a profound difference in the lives of Memphians and surrounding communities.
Thirty years ago, four visionary medical students from Louisiana committed to creating a health center that would provide compassionate healthcare. In 1995, they fulfilled that promise by opening the first Christ Community Health Services clinic on Third Street in Memphis, TN. What began as a single health center has since grown into a comprehensive network of health centers serving thousands annually.
Today, CCHS operates six health centers, one homeless outreach center, two school-based health centers, and a women's health center across Shelby County. Additionally, CCHS has expanded to East Jackson, TN, with one health center and a women's health center. Collectively, these facilities provide essential services—including pediatric and adult primary care, prenatal and obstetric/gynecological care, behavioral health, dental services, and pharmacy access—to more than 59,000 patients annually.
