Spiritual Health Partners

We are eager to be an extension of your church’s ministry. By partnering with Christ Community, you will have the opportunity to receive new visitors into your church and serve them through what you are already doing. Additionally, we want to serve your church’s healthcare needs through our Health Centers and by serving as a resource for your church. Together, we will see our communities healthier in every way!

Volunteer in the Spiritual Health Department

At Christ Community Health Services, we serve neighborhoods in Memphis where access to care has been limited for far too long. Many residents face physical challenges that go untreated simply because quality healthcare has not been available close to home. Through God’s calling, Christ Community is standing in the gap by offering both medical care and spiritual encouragement to the people we serve.

Why Spiritual Health Matters

We know that true healing reaches beyond physical symptoms. While we address medical needs first, lasting change often begins when a patient experiences spiritual hope. Our Spiritual Health Department plays a vital role in helping patients find strength, comfort, and encouragement through Christ.

Spiritual Health Advisors meet with patients to ask questions that help understand their spiritual needs. These moments often become meaningful “encounters” where patients feel seen, heard, and supported. Our Patient Care and Community Health Workers also follow up with patients, helping them stay on track with appointments, medication, and helpful resources.

Patients regularly share how much this care means to them:
“It is so motivating to know somebody cares about what you are going through.”
“I have never had a doctor ask if they could pray for me. It meant so much.”

These simple acts of care and prayer reflect the mission of Christ Community: to care for the whole person, body, mind, and spirit.

Holistic Care in a Christian Setting

Our goal is to maintain a distinctively Christian environment where patients and staff are prayed with and prayed for. We offer five lines of service that work together to support overall wellness:
• Medical and Primary Care
• Behavioral Health
• Spiritual Health
• Dental Care
• Pharmacy Services

Spiritual Health Advisors serve alongside doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of the patient care team. This partnership strengthens our ability to offer holistic care rooted in Christian love.

Why Volunteers Are Needed

As our ministry grows, we want to ensure each health center has strong spiritual support. Volunteers help expand our reach, allowing more patients to experience prayer, encouragement, and spiritual companionship. Many patients tell us they have never received this level of care for both their spiritual and physical needs.

Your willingness to serve helps us continue this ministry and extend hope to those who walk through our doors.

What Volunteers Do

As a volunteer in the Spiritual Health Department, you may:
• Pray with patients who request spiritual support
• Share the hope of the gospel
• Offer encouragement during challenging moments
• Help connect patients with helpful resources
• Support the work of Spiritual Health Advisors and care teams

Volunteers help bring the love of Christ to every interaction. When you serve “the least of these,” you are serving Him.

Join Us in This Calling

If God is leading you to partner with us, we would love to welcome you. Volunteering in the Spiritual Health Department is a meaningful way to support patients, strengthen our community, and share Christ’s love in a practical way.

Together, we can continue offering quality care and spiritual support that touches lives and brings hope to Memphis.
